2018 Mission Trip

to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota.

Group Photo

Group photo of our trip in 2016

Saturday, July 7 - Saturday July 14, 2018

Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe

LaPlant, South Dakota

We ask for your prayers, financial and material support and supportive activities here in Roxbury, to enable others to travel and make a difference in the lives of the Lakota people.

We have a number of adults and youth traveling to South Dakota to work on housing rehabilitation and upgrades, helping to construct a commnuity garden program and provide children and adolescent suicide prevention through a daily camp program.

We are working through Simply Smiles of Westport, CT and this will be our 6th time on the Reservation. We have also gone to work in Oaxaca, Mexico with them in the past.

Good Vibrations

GoodVibrations-450x450

A Sound meditation class

Our Minister of Music, Sandy Kleisner will be offering a sound/meditation class on Thursdays from 1-2. Through many years of working with voices, Sandy has discovered the possibilities available to us when we use our breath to create tones and vibrations. Simple yoga postures and movement activities are also used to acquire a heightened awareness of our own vibrations.

There‚Äôll be chants focused on resonating with the seven chakras. Find peace and tranquility through using the breath to create sounds to heal and renew our bodies.

Sandy writes: "I call this course Good Vibrations and I will be using a few short phrases of songs that I feel are spiritual in nature. I encourage you to find your own music that resonates with your spirit!. I look forward to what each individual discovers through the activities I will be bringing to these sessions.

This is a exploratory class so I am not charging a fee but a free will offering will be welcomed. "

Held at Roxbury Congregational Church Thursdays 7/12, 19 and 26 and 8/2 from 1-2pm
