CT, MA, & RI Conferences of the UCC propose to work together.

On January 21, 2017, following a year of discernment, the Boards of Directors of the Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island conferences unanimously approved a Resolution to work towards a new Conference. Our own David Lincicome is a member of the CT Conference Board of Directors.

On June 16 - 17, 2017, at a joint Annual Meeting, delegates from the three conferences will be asked to endorse that resolution, and to authorize the development of a detailed proposal for the new Conference, which would come back to the annual meetings for approval in 2018.

More information can be found on the Ct. Conference, UCC's Web page - HERE

Purchase Cash Cards for

Big Y, Stop & Shop or ShopRite, and Major Retailers

And Support Your Church!

Do you shop at these stores?  Have you ever purchased their gift cards?  As a church, we can earn “cash back” from these stores.   Stop & Shop will give us 5% of all gift cards we sell, while Big Y offers 2% - (6% for October and April!)   This is how it works:  as a non-profit organization, we can purchase the cards at a discount and sell them to you at face value.   The difference is our profit.  It may not seem like much but it will add up quickly if we make these purchases as a group.  Example: A $100 purchase from Stop & Shop, will give the church $5.  Many of us easily spend that much in a week.

Just bring a check to the church office – payable to RCC - in the amount you wish to purchase (your cost is the face value of the card) and let us know which store you would like. There are also forms and envelopes on the Opportunity Table in Fellowship Hall and they can be placed in the offering plate on Sunday.

In 2013, the “Cash Back” program offered by these stores, have benefitted our ministries over $1200.!  Please consider using this program to pay for your groceries whenever you shop. The percentage may not seem like much, but it will add up quickly if we make these purchases as a group. You do not have to be a congregation member to participate.  It’s a great way to support the church by doing what you do anyway.

For more information, contact Heidi Neff  860-354-3177 for questions or cards.

AND now... more options for places to purchase!!

Roxbury Congregational Church has enrolled in "Scrip Fundraising", an online program offering over 300 gift cards for purchase (similar to the gift card kiosk at grocery stores & pharmacies). Scrip is another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards. Due to its' success, I will also continue the Stop & Shop, ShopRite, and Big Y "Cash For Causes" program.

The concept is the same: You order gift cards at face value, the church purchases them at a discounted price and the difference is an instant rebate for the church. Each store/restaurant/gas station on the program has a separate cash back percentage.

A complete listing of participating retailers will be posted in Fellowship Hall or can be found on Scrip's website: If you would like to create an account to place orders online, please use Enrollment Code 8F15BD7143454 to link the account to RCC. For payment, you have the option to sign up for PrestoPay (similar to PayPal) or write a check to RCC.

Here is a sampling of the retailers in the area that are on the program along

with its' cash back:

LL Bean's 16%

Land's End: 16%

KMart 4%

Walmart 2.5%

Shell Gas 2.5%

Panera Bread 9%

Staples 5%,

HomeGoods 7%,

Gulf Oil 1.5%

Kohl's 4%

CVS 6%

Orders will be placed each Monday and the cards will be available for distribution the following Sunday. Orders must be prepaid.

As always, feel free to contact Heidi at 860-354-3177 or, with any questions you may have.

 Snow Days

Our Guideline:
When there is a significant snowstorm, our ordinary practice will be to proceed with worship as scheduled, unless an official emergency is declared or other factors make it prudent to cancel services.  In the rare instance in which it is necessary to cancel worship, notification will be made via announcements on the church website, an email broadcast, and on telephone answering message, as well as on local TV stations. Notice of cancellation or postponement of programs, meetings, and other church events will be made by the leaders of those events via telephone or email.

Above all, safety and common sense drive our routine, and we want those same guidelines to drive your own decisions about coming to church during bad weather!
